In January 2025, Eduardo Costantini — founder of Consultatio Real Estate and the MALBA museum — acquired a 145-hectare farm at kilometre 170 of Ruta 10, five kilometres from Punta Piedra at the entrance to José Ignacio. The price paid was USD 11.2 million, more than three times the initial assessed value of USD 3.5 million. The property had previously belonged to Lázaro Báez.
The deal is part of a strategic push into polo in Uruguay. Costantini plans to transform the property into a world-class polo club with Adolfo Cambiaso as a partner. The argument: Uruguay's regulations on horse imports position it as a potential top-tier destination for the sport, comparable to Palm Beach.
In the same week, the developer completed a second purchase in Carrasco, Montevideo: 141 hectares with an initial investment of USD 13 million to develop residential and commercial properties under the country's Housing Promotion Act.
