Casa Crocco DO

Casa Crocco is the residence of artist Haeloisa Crocco in Punta del Este, originally designed by architect Mathias Klotz. SALINAS' role was documentation and construction management for an extension that sought to blend with the original without altering its character.

The new volume follows the formal logic of the house: a pitched roof, black corrugated metal cladding and lapacho — a dense, warm-toned timber that unifies the joinery and vertical surfaces. The contrast between the dark metal and the warmth of the lapacho defines both pavilions: sober from the outside, inviting from within.

The multi-pane windows, with their thin profiles and metal grids, serve as the connective tissue between interior and garden. From inside, they frame the vegetation like a moving painting; the wood stove anchors the space, drawing everyday life around it.

The existing vegetation is not a backdrop — it is an integral part of the project. Trees, shifting shade and the dense greenery of the garden flow into the spaces, completing an architecture that treats house and landscape as one.
